  17. over 50 years, Lewis inspired anger as well as a dash of fear
  18. in company officers by demanding his rights as a shareholder.
  19. Committed to "corporate democracy," he prompted management to
  20. hold meetings in easily reached locations, release postmeeting
  21. reports, place limits on executive stock options and in general
  22. act accountably.
